|
Anon. - Cries of London also from Tristitiae Remedium (1616) |
£3.00 |
This has been thought to be of little significance but is in fact worthy to be placed only a little below the Gibbons Cries in stature.
William Cobbold's New Fashions is perhaps best known from the Musica Brittanica edition by Philip Brett where the missing Alto part is shown as a blank stave and the Editor issues the challenge to try recreate the missing part. In this edition two recreations are offered as alternatives, one by Steve Heavens and the other by Kathleen Berg making this curious work rather more accessible.
Single score and parts £5.00, additional sets of 5 scores £10.00

Orlandus Lassus' Prophetiae Sibylarum" This four part vocal music is a set of 12 motets written when Lassus was aged 28 and represent an exploration of the newly fashionable chromaticism. Although his experimentation did not always work nevertheless this is amazing music, and if you are susceptible to the charms of 16th century chromaticism these are not to be missed.
The original manuscript has three clef and pitch variants. Where appropriate these have been transposed to produce an edition which can be sung throughout by the same group of singers (SATB). Original-pitch versions can be supplied if required. In addition a set of instrumental parts is available (these are based on the transposed version).
Single score £2.50, sets of four ordered together £8.00
Set of parts - £3.00
