The Golden Age of European Polyphony

This monumental project was the brainchild of the late Jean Salkin, a Belgian who was a fanatical music-lover and founder of his country’s National Sound Recordings Library.  The 11-CD set amounts to a ‘history in sound’ of the music of its title, with a CD-ROM which provides full texts, translations, and Jean Salkin’s own clear and accessible commentary on the music.  Performances are all by Guy Janssen’s highly-praised Laudantes Consort, and combined with the beautiful presentation and attractive price make the set a highly desirable acquisition for all enthusiasts of Renaissance music.
