For some years before we moved to Lincoln we ran a series of highly successful Early Music weekend courses generally chosing subjects which were not widely done elsewhere and in which we were particularly interested.
The course fees are between £25.00 and £35.00. In addition we offer a few beds and plenty of floor space, an evening meal and breakfast (cooked) for a further £5.00.
We have a number of rooms suitable for small consorts and access to several churches and a college if we undertake larger scale works.
Apart from which Lincoln is a lovely city and boasts the finest Cathedral in the UK.
March 1st/2nd 2003 The English Salve Regina March 1603 saw not only the death of Queen Elizabeth I but also the end of the Tudor dynasty. To commemorate the passing of that era 500 years ago we have invited David Allinson to be the tutor for a weekend of exploration of English settings of the Salve Regina and other allied texts. David needs little by way of introduction. He is an experienced and inspirational tutor and his direction of the weekend of Ockeghem in Lincoln a few years ago was most memorable. The texts we will be working on have produced some inspired music. Whilst this weekend is most appropriate for singers we would welcome sensitive instrumentalists playing low quiet wind and viols.
Philip Thorby will spend the weekend preparing singers and instrumentalists for a performance on the Sunday evening.Whilst most of the participants will be pre-selected if you have a burning ambition to take part please get in touch and we will see what we can do about fitting you in. Alternatively there will be space for non-participating listeners who can enjoy a weekend in Lincoln and watch how the performance is created.
Both these courses will also take place at Bishop Grosstest College which in addition to their other facilities has a chapel with excellent acoustics.

Although it has nothing to do with Early Music you might also be interested in a series of workshops being held in Lincoln during the week before our Salve Regina course.
